"Bad Blood" singer Taylor Swift won eight out of 41 awards at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, May 17. Her latest pop debut album "1989" scored her the most awards than any other music artist at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, California. Swift ended her acceptance speech for the Top Artist award by saying, "I love you to the fans. I will see you on the "1989" World Tour. I love you! thank you!" The Billboard Music Awards is an annual awards ceremony that honors recording artists for top sales, downloads, and airplays.
Swift won under the categories of Billboard Chart Achievement, Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album for "1989," Top Streaming Song (Video) for "Shake It Off," and Top Hot 100 Artist.
"This is such a good night. Earlier this morning, I watched my brother Austin graduate from Notre Dame and then I flew here. So, I guess I wanna say to anyone who's graduating this year from high school, college, grad school, whatever you're graduating from, this is for you," said 25-year-old Swift. "Congratulations. This is kind of a graduation for us because it honors what we've achieved but it also reminds us that we have so much learning to do, we have so much more to accomplish, and to fight for."
All other artists won one to three awards. Sam Smith won three awards for Top Male Artist, Top New Artist, and Top Radio Song Artist. Pharrell Williams won three awards for Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Album for "Girl," and Top R&B Song for "Happy." Iggy Azalea won three awards for Top Streaming Artist, Top Rap Artist, and Top Rap Song.
One Direction won two awards for Top Duo/Group and Top Touring Artist. John Legend won two awards for Top Streaming Song (Audio) and Top Radio Song for "All Of Me." Hozier won two awards for Top Rock Artist and Top Rock Song for "Take Me To Church." Jason Aldean won two awards for Top Country Song for "Burnin' It Down" and Top Country Album for "Old Boots, New Dirt." Meghan Trainor won two awards for Top Hot 100 Song and Top Digital Song for "All About That Bass." Enrique Iglesias won two awards for Top Latin Album for "Sex and Love" and Top Latin Song for "Bailando."
