HTC One ME9 Rumors & Specs: Images of HTC’s News Handset with 5.2-Inch Display Leaked

HTC is rumored to be preparing to unveil a new handset dubbed as the One ME9.

Based on the leaked images posted by tech insider Upleaks, the upcoming smartphone looks strikingly similar to the recently introduced One M9+.

The One ME9 will sport a metal casing but it will not have a unibody construction since its rear cover will be made out of polycarbonate material, GSM Arena reported.

The device will also share certain specifications sported by the One M9+ such as the 5.2-inch Quad HD display. It will also house a 20-megapixel rear camera and a 4-megapixel selfie front shooter.

For the processor, Upleaks noted that HTC has equipped its upcoming smartphone with a 2.2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6795chipset. It will have 3GB of RAM and will come with an internal storage of 32GB. It is still not yet confirmed if the built-in memory capacity can be expanded through a microSD card.

The One ME9 is expected to run on the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS paired with the Sense 7. As for its release date, various sources noted that the latest handset will be officially launched sometime in July of this year and will come in Meteor Gray, Gold Sepia and Classic Rose Gold color variants.

Unfortunately though, HTC has no plans of shipping out the One ME9 to Middle Eastern, European or North American markets, according to 9to5Google. Instead, the device is only expected to debut in India, Taiwan and Hong Kong. It will arrive with a retail price of around $550.

The leaked information regarding the One ME9 came a day after HTC officially unveiled the One M9+ with 5.2-inch display in a company event, Techno Buffalo reported.

During the latter's launch, an executive from the company clarified that HTC will no longer make mini versions of its flagship handsets. Instead, the company will focus on manufacturing smartphones with bigger displays.
