Although it has been an exciting season for '19 Kids and Counting' with Jessa exchanging wedding vows with Ben Seewald and Jill taking on the journey to parenthood with spouse Derick Dillard, there was one moment which stood out that made the Duggar family go into frenzy.
Filming of the TLC series caused much panic as the youngest Duggar, Josie, suffered a seizure and was found unresponsive by her own siblings.
As explained by Duggar dad Jim Bob during the '19 Kids and Counting' finale last Tuesday, they are expected their 5-year-old daughter to outgrow her seizures someday.
"All of Josie's seizures have happened around a fever - normally an ear infection," he said. "Typically, children will outgrow these by the time they're 10.
"So, hopefully, she will just get bigger and stronger and outgrow it," the Duggar patriarch added.
According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, one in every 25 children is expected to demonstrate at least one febrile seizure, although majority of such incidents do not last a long time and are harmless.
Short febrile seizures have not been found to cause brain damage; however, longer ones that last for an hour or more can increase a child's risk of developing epilepsy.
For the youngest Duggar, Josie had her own struggles of coming to this world as mother Michelle went through pre-eclampsia during her pregnancy, undergoing emergency cesarean section to save both Josie's and her own life. Josie was born at only 25 weeks and weighed in at 1 lb., 6 oz.
During her medical crisis, it was her older brother James, 13, who noticed that Josie was being unresponsive.
"He [James] asked her a question, and she didn't really respond," their sister Jana told the cameras. "She was just sitting there, staring, and then started jerking. He knew immediately, "okay, that's a seizure' and so he ran and got me."
Even Scott Enlow, the episode's director, rushed to help out Jana prior to the arrival of the paramedics. Upon reaching the hospital, Josie was asked to undergo a CT scan.
"One of the little glitches for Josie is that if she runs a fever, she does have the tendency to have febrile seizures," explained Michelle during the episode. "It might happen just like that; she'll spike a temp when you least expect it, and she'll have a seizure."
After being rushed to the hospital, Josie was also able to return home with her family.
