‘Minecraft: Pocket Edition’ App for IOS, Android & Windows Phone Gets Updated with New Content

Minecraft

Mojang announced through its website that it is planning to release new content for "Minecraft: Pocket Edition" for iOS, Android and Windows Phone mobile devices.

The upcoming bundles include new character skins, animals, language support, control options and a few bug fixes.

There is no official release date yet for the new content but Mojang said it will be launched once it receives approval from Apple, Google and Microsoft.

For the skins, gamers can get the new ones either for free or through paid bundles. The bundleS cost around $0.99 and come with 20 character skins.

For gamers who are looking to get them for free, they can create their own using image editing software and upload them to "Minecraft: Pocket Edition." They can also search for free skins on the Internet or use the ones available in the game.

Mojang noted that although it will change the appearance of their characters, the skins will not alter their performance nor enhance their abilities.

"Skins are the way you change the appearance of your 'Minecraft' character," Mojang stated. "Instead of looking like Alex or Steve, you can roll with a different vibe, like a butcher, dog or plumber. Skins are purely cosmetic - they don't affect the way the game plays or give you any special abilities."

Aside from the skins, the upcoming content packs will also feature additional animals for the game such as squids, spider jockeys, cave spiders, bats and chicken jockeys. Also, with the additional of aquatic animals, gamers will be able to enjoy fishing in the game. Boats that can support two characters will also be added to the game.

Mojang noted that several issues in the game, including animals walking on water, will be fixed through the release of the update.

It is not yet clear of the content update will be released for the different mobile platforms at the same time but gamers can expect its availability soon.
