Sony has announced a new discount program, the PlayStation Pus Specials, that will offer new deals on games and DLCs exclusively for PS Plus members.
It seems the tech giant's latest program is aimed at competing against Microsoft's own exclusive discount deal for Xbox Live Gold subscribers, Engadget reported.
For more than two years, Xbox gamers have been enjoying free content every month through Microsoft's Games with Gold subscription program. In response, Sony launched its own program to provide PS Plus subscribers with exclusive freebies and discounts.
"We've been listening to your feedback, and today, I'm thrilled to announce PlayStation Plus Specials, our brand new deals program offering exclusive discounts for PS Plus members on the newest games and add-ons," Chieh Chen, Sony's manager for digital distribution posted on the PlayStation blog.
"That's right, these deals will be available to PS Plus members only," the executive added.
As part of the new program, which began on May 26, discounts of up to 30 percent are being offered on full games and content packs for the PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
Some of the titles featured in the program's line-up include "Chivalry: Medieval Warfare" bundle, "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" PS+ bundle, "Bloodborne," "Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin," "The Order: 1886," "Helldivers Turning Up The Heat Edition" and "Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines" bundle.
Aside from the discounted titles and bundles, Sony will also be offering free PS Plus games for the month of June. As listed by Ryan Clements, Sony's social media specialist, in a new blog post, the free games include "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes" for the PlayStation 4, "Cloudberry Kingdom" for the PlayStation 3 and "Super Exploding Zoo" for both the PlayStation Vita and Sony's next-gen console.
Like the those included in the PS Plus Specials, the upcoming free games in June will only be available to PS Plus subscribers.
