ABC Family continues to round up cast members for the upcoming saga series "Shadowhunters' as Jon Cor is reportedly in talks to join the "Mortal Instruments' drama.
The former "Being Human' actor, who also makes an appearance in Syfy's new "Dark Matter', is on board to portray the role of weapons trainer Hodge Starkweather and will be a recurring guest actor on the series.
Based on the "Mortal Instruments' novels by Cassandra Clare, "Shadowhunters' follows the story of Clary Fray, who will be portrayed by Katherine McNamara from "Happyland' and "The Fosters.'
Clary is a teenage girl who finds out that she comes from a long line of human-angel hybrids whose mission on Earth is to track down and get rid of demons.
After her mother is kidnapped, Clary should be able to accept her fate and become open to the fact that the world is filled with supernatural creatures, including vampires and werewolves, who may or may not be allies.
As ABC Family executive vice president Karey Burke pointed out, Clary should be recognized as an ideal character due to her strength and determination, thus a likeable character that audiences can easily identify with.
"They will want her to succeed and will root for her on her journey to become who she was always meant to be," Burke stated. "The series has a passionate fan base and an expansive universe that can sustain multiple seasons to come."
As she spends more time hunting demons, Clary is joined by the "lethally gorgeous", expert Shadowhunter named Jace, who will be played by Dominic Sherwood.
Clary's best friend, Simon, has also been set to join her which tests his loyalty as well as his feelings towards her; he will be portrayed by Alberto Rosende.
Another Shadowhunter that will be present in the series is the tough and beautiful Isabelle, played by Emeraude Toubia.
"Glee' actor Harry Shum Jr. takes on the role of an ancient and strange warlock named Magnus Bane while "Reign' actor Alan Van Sprang is set to play the evil Valentine.
Constantin Film has been set to produce and Ed Decter joins the series as showrunner and executive producer.
"Shadowhunters' will be comprised of 13 episodes and production will reportedly begin this May in Toronto. Announcement on its premiere date is yet to be made.
"'Shadowhunters' is a big epic saga that will resonate with viewers who come to ABC Family for the "Harry Potter,' "Hunger Games,' and "Twilight' franchises," ABC Family President Tom Ascheim said.
