Verizon has started rolling out the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update for the LTE variant of its LG G Pad 10.1.

Similar to previous updates, the OS upgrade comes with various features and improvements that can enhance the performance of the tablet.

The availability of the update was confirmed by Verizon through a detailed post on its website.

According to the telecom giant, the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop will update the LG G Pad 10.1's software version to VK70022A. Since the tablet originally came with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat when it was first released, the update brings the new Material Design features from the Lollipop version of the Android.

For example, Verizon noted that the Home Touch Buttons has been updated to Lollipop's configuration. The Recent button was also added in between the Menu and Home buttons. However, since users have the option to customize the tablet's settings, they can rearrange the combination of the buttons.

Another notable feature of the update is its multi-user mode. With this feature, users can create multiple profiles with distinct settings and permissions on a single device. In addition, a Search mode has also been added to the device's Settings menu.

The update also comes with a variety of new security features to protect the users and their devices. The Smart Lock features adds an authentication process when there are other device nearby while the Avoid Bad Wi-Fi Connections option prevents users from connecting to weak and unsecure networks.

The notifications and quick settings panels have also been upgraded through the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update.

The update can now be downloaded as an over-the-air file. However, as noted by 9to5Google, it seems the roll out is being conducted in stages. This means not all Verizon LG G Pad 10.1 LTE users will be able to get the update at the same time.
