New rumors suggest that Xiaomi has begun the testing phase for its Redmi Note 2 Pro device.
If speculations are true, then the company may be gearing up to unveil the upcoming handset to the public.
Rumors about the device emerged after a smartphone dubbed as the Xiaomi Redmi Note was spotted in the listing of the Indian import-export website, Zauba. According to the information provided by the site, the device was sent from the United States and arrived in India on June 1.
The device, with the model number R100867, was shipped by the company for internal testing and is valued at INR 25,609, or around $401. This price is expected to go higher once the handset debuts on the market due to various taxes and fees.
Based on the stated value of the device, International Business Times speculated that the handset featured on the site might be the Note 2 Pro variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Note. As mentioned in previous leaks, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, which was revealed as the smaller version of the Note 2 Pro, is expected to have a retail price below $400.
Earlier in May, it was reported that Xiaomi is working on a new handset codenamed Hermes or H3Y. Various sources claimed that this is actually the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro. The Xiaomi Redmi Note, on the other hand, is also known as the Xiaomi H3X, according to GSM Arena.
There is very little information currently available for the two devices but according to rumors, the Xiaomi H3Y will be powered by a 64-bit MT6795 chipset from MediaTek. The device will also sport a 13-megapixel rear camera equipped with Samsung's S5K3M2 ISOCELL sensor. On the front side, the device will feature a 5-megapixel snapper.
Although the screen size is still unknown, the device will have a full HD display. It is also expected to run on the Android Lollipop OS along with Xiaomi's MIUI 6.
