'Sherlock' Actor Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter Welcome Birth of Newborn "Cumberbaby"

'Sherlock' actor Benedict Cumberbatch and theatre director Sophie Hunter welcomed their first child on Saturday, June 13. The news was announced by Cumberbatch's representative in an interview with USA Today. Their child was christened "Cumberbaby" by the media. Cumberbatch and Hunter got married in February 2015.

"Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son. We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during these next few precious weeks," said Karon Maskill.

The newborn son arrived four months after their marriage. The couple married on Valentine's Day 2015 at 12th Century Church of St. Peter and St. Paul on the Isle of Wight in England. They first announced news of their marriage in November 2014 in 'The Times.' Cumberbatch and Hunter met in 2009 while filming 'Burlesque Fairytales.'

Cumberbatch is famous for his acting roles in 'Sherlock,' 'The Imitation Game,' 'The Hobbit,' and '12 Years A Slave.' He is the recipient of multiple awards, including the 2014 Emmy Award, 2014 British Independent Film Award, and the 2012 Critic's Circle Theatre Award.
