Google has recently confirmed that the Android Wear 5.1.1 update is now available for Motorola's Moto 360 smartwatch.
Although the roll out has already begun, Google noted that it might take some time before all users of the wearable device receive it, Phandroid reported.
News about the updates availability for the Moto 360 was announced by Wayne Piekarski, Google's senior developer advocate. However, the executive noted that since the update is an over-the-air file, the roll out will be conducted in stages.
"Just to let you all know, the latest version of Android Wear is going to start rolling out via an over-the-air (OTA) update to the Moto 360 today," Piekarski posted on his Google+ account.
"OTA roll outs are always done over a period of many days, so it will take some time to receive your update," he added.
As revealed in previous reports regarding the Android Wear 5.1.1 on other wearable devices, the update features various improvements for the Moto 360's interface.
These include the always-on apps, which enables apps to constantly display information even when they are in ambient mode. Other notable features of the Android Wear 5.1.1 are Wi-Fi connectivity, built-in lockscreen feature and navigation gesture support.
The Android Wear 5.1.1 has already been available to other wearable devices for some time now, such as the LG G Watch. It was supposed to be unveiled for the Moto 360 at an earlier period but Motorola had to delay it due to technical issues.
Earlier in June, the company announced that the update for its smartwatch was not yet ready due to certain performance-related problems, according to Android Central.
"Performance is not quite there yet," Motorola tweeted about the Android Wear 5.1.1. "We're working with Google to ensure the software works great on #Moto360."
Fortunately, Google and Motorola overcame this hurdle and were able to release the latest Android Wear version to the Moto 360 smartwatch.
