Game publisher 2K Sports has officially revealed the first six playable characters for "WWE 2K16."
According to the studio, the upcoming game will feature the biggest character roster in the history of the "WWE 2K" series.
The company made the revelation during the recent Electronic Entertainment Expo held in Los Angeles. The six wrestlers introduced by the company for the game are from the WWE, NXT and WWE Divas divisions, according to an article by the WWE site.
These include current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, NXT Superstar Finn Balor and former WWE Divas Champion Paige. Rounding up the six characters are Daniel Bryan, Wade Barrett and Rollins' former teammate from The Shield, Dean Ambrose.
2K Sports noted that other playable wrestlers for "WWE 2K16" will be introduced within the next few weeks.
Although the company did not give out hints as to who the characters could be, previous rumors have already suggested a few names that could be featured in the game's roster. One of those is Bill Goldberg, the former WCW and WWE wrestler.
Day Herald noted that the athlete already made an appearance in the "WWE 2K" series but as an unlockable character in "WWE 2K14." Furthermore, a Twitter user claimed that Goldberg had been confirmed to participate in "WWE 2K16." Unfortunately, the tweet has been taken down shortly after it was posted.
Other rumored wrestlers who might join the upcoming game are Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin. This is based on a YouTube clip that featured a discussion between WWE commentators Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler about the roster of "WWE 2K16." According to the two, Michaels and Austin will be part of the game, International Business Times has learned.
In addition, the video noted that the storyline of "WWE 2K16" will focus on Austin's career.
There are no new updates yet whether Goldberg, Michaels and Austin will be featured in the game or not. But since 2K Sports said that the game will have the largest roster in the franchise's history, there's a good chance that these wrestlers, and possibly other legends too, will be included in "WWE 2K16."
The latest installment in the "WWE 2K" franchise is scheduled to hit stores on October 27. It will be released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
