This June, the studio that brought animated action-fantasy film "How to Train Your Dragon' into light reveals an all-new original series that will put forth new adventures for Hiccup and Toothless.
"DreamWorks Dragons: Race to the Edge,' with its new trailer released, follows Hiccup and his gigantic dragon as they fly and venture out beyond the Viking village of Berk and finds out about the mysterious Dragon Eye.
Filled with secrets of all kinds, such ancient artifact leads the pair into new lands that are teeming with undiscovered dragons.
However, the story further follows Hiccup and Toothless as they are tracked down by dragon hunters, who are determined to capture the power of the Dragon Eye.
The all-new "DreamWorks Dragons: Race to the Edge' will air thirteen episodes and premiere exclusively on Netflix on June 26.
This year, "How to Train Your Dragon 2' raked in multiple awards, particularly at the 42nd annual Annie Awards, triumphing over its contenders with six wins, including awards for best director (Dean DeBlois) and best animated feature.
Deblois shared his upcoming plans for Hiccup and Toothless in the third installment that will complete the trilogy. The award-winning director confirmed that he has completed half of the script for "How to Train Your Dragon 3.'
"It continues to track Hiccup's coming of age, but it's also equally shared now that Hiccup and Toothless are chiefs of their clans," DeBlois explained.
He also believes that the dark-colored dragon has brought a lot to the Dreamworks table and has emotionally reached out to viewers.
"The story also follows Toothless' storyline, and I think audiences will like that because they seem to respond well to Toothless' antics and what seems to be going on in his head," the 44-year-old director shared.
Interestingly, DeBlois announced that the third film will have its own storyline and will not continue from where the second installment ended. In contrast, it will jump back and forth in various time settings, highlighting the story of Hiccup within different phases in his life.
"If the "How to Train Your Dragon' world leads to more sequels, I think it will be in a creatively different direction," the Canadian director added. "It's a possibility but not something that I'm currently developing."
The second "How to Train Your Dragon' installment also bagged awards for feature character design, music and storyboarding as well as raked in over $618 million in the global box office.
