U.S. Pastor Saeed Abedini is currently serving an 8-year sentence at the Rajai Shahr prison in Iran. The American Center for Law and Justice reported however, that the pastor is receiving death threats from ISIS Jihadists who are being held in a separate section of the prison.

The militants who are held in the Rajai Shahr prison have threatened to kill Pastor Abedini for his Christian faith. There were reported incidents where the detained militants had managed to enter the pastor's section of the prison ward on the way back from the prison yard, forcing Abedini to hide himself.

"The ISIS threats against pastor Saeed are extremely dangerous. ISIS is a brutally violent offshoot of al Qaeda in Iraq, proving themselves far more violent than even al Qaeda itself. ISIS is terrorizing and massacring Christians throughout Iraq and Syria," the ACLJ stated. "Killing pastor Saeed within Iran, which has publicly opposed ISIS, would provide a monumental victory for these murderous terrorists."

The ISIS, also referred to as the ISIL has managed to bring a considerable amount of territory under their control. As a result of these militants' war with the Iraqi government, many Christians along with other religious and ethnic minorities are facing unprecedented levels of persecution and violence from these Jihadists.

Meanwhile, John Kerry, the U.S. Secretary of State has spoken out against the Iranian government concerning the imprisonment of Pastor Abedini who is an American citizen. The ACLJ urged both Secretary Kerry and even President Obama himself to take immediate action so that the pastor may return home safely without the delay.

By September, the pastor would have been detained in prison for two whole years.
