Ronda Rousey does not forget - a fact she made exceedingly clear as she vows to become the "comeuppance" of her August 1 opponent, Bethe Correia. In their upcoming match in Rio de Janiero, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion promises the public and her opponent that the event will teach the latter a lesson she will never forget, according to Washington Post.
The champ has been known for her record breaking swiftness in beating her opponents as exemplified by the measly 14 seconds it took for her to defeat the No. 2 contender, Cat Zingano, when the latter attempted a shot at the title, according to International Business Times. While this is not a good sign for Correia, it appears that an even worse news is awaiting the upcoming challenger.
In an Instagram post, Rousey reminded the public that the upcoming match will be her way of avenging her father whom Correia disrespected earlier this year. She wrote, "@BetheCorreia, your disrespect to my father, family and friends is not forgotten. I am your comeuppance. And this will not be over quickly. I will make sure you feel every moment of the lesson I'm going to teach you." The picture attached to the menacing caption posed the two women side by side with their stats at the bottom.

The personal aspect involved in this upcoming match is rooted from the remarks of Correia in an interview with Combate, a Brazilian sports website, last May. She said, via Washington Post, [Rousey] doesn't have a good mind-set, she needs to get help." The challenger added, "There are a lot of people around her, because she is winning, when she realizes she is not all that, I don't even know what could happen. I hope she doesn't commit suicide."
While this a typical manner of further fueling the fight's popularity, Correia's remark regarding "suicide" ticked off Rousey as the latter's father took his own life. Unsurprisingly, the UFC champ responded through gritted teeth and barely contained emotion.
Rousey wrote via Twitter, "@bethecorreia suicide is no joke or selling point. My father will be with me the day I hand you the comeuppance you deserve." Seemingly caught off guard by the effect of her statement, Correia quickly issued an apology via social media as well. She responded, "@RondaRousey Never knew what happened to ur dad.I'm humble enough to ask u for forgiveness. Family is a godly bless to me. See u in #UFC190"
