The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update has been released for the Galaxy S6 Duos, the dual SIM variant of Samsung's current flagship device.
The update features the same enhancements brought by the latest version of the Lollipop for the device's single SIM counterpart.
A couple of days ago, various network carriers in the U.S. such as Sprint and Verizon started seeding update 5.1.1 for the Galaxy S6. Now, some users of the flagship's dual SIM variant have started receiving the latest version of the Android Lollipop OS, GSM Arena reported.
Currently, the update is only being rolled out in selected regions such as Dubai. However, other users from various countries can expect to receive the OS upgrade within the next few days or weeks.
The latest update, which is 620MB in size, comes with new security enhancements as well as additional control options for the Galaxy S6 Duos. For instance, users will now have the option to remove the S Finder and Quick Connect toggles from the notifications settings.
In addition, the device will get the Parallex Effect, which gives the wallpaper or background themes a 3D-like effect. Like in the Galaxy S6, owners of the Galaxy S6 Duos will be able to control the camera's shutter speed and ISO values through the update. However, as noted by Sam Mobile, this will only work on a third-party camera app.
The update can be downloaded through Samsung Kies but there are no details yet regarding its regional availability. Those who are eligible to download the update will receive a notification regarding its status.
As for those who are still waiting for the update, they can manually check if it's already available through the device's Settings menu.
Like in other OTA roll outs, users are strongly advised backup their data before initializing the download and installation procedures. Also, they should make sure that they are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network and that their devices have enough battery capacity.
