New plot details for "The Flash' season two have been revealed by The CW Network as the series is expected to return this October.

The hit CW series concluded its pilot season with a seat-gripping episode, with Barry, played by Grant Gustin, trying to close the wormhole that sought to destroy the city.

Titled as "The Man Who Saved Central City,' the premiere episode of the second season is expected to show the speedy superhero as he saves the city and puts an end to the black hole that came up in the city in the final episode of season one.

As stated in the official description for the second season: "Armed with the heart of a hero and the ability to move at super speeds, Barry charged into the eye of the singularity, but will he actually be able to save his city from impending doom?"

Candice Patton, who takes on the role of Iris West Allen, dropped hints that season two will continue from where the series had left off.

In an interview with TVLine, the introduction for season two will show how Barry is coping with the circumstances and what the consequences will be for STAR Labs as well as for Iris, Joe and Eddie.

The 27-year-old actress also opened up about her own character's struggles and her hopes for her future.

"She's found her way into STAR Labs and she's trying to get her career off the ground at Picture News," Patton said.

"So I, personally, am really hoping to see Iris have more agency and more abilities to help the team and The Flash and the city that she loves so much. I want to see her stand on her own two feet and really contribute to the group," 'The Game' actress further shared.

In another report by TVLine, Detective Joe West is said to become involved with a female character named Olivia in the new season.

The show's producers are reportedly looking for an African-American actress in her early 40s to take on the role of Joe's troubled old friend.

As filming for season two continues this July in Vancouver, a first look at the upcoming season of "The Flash' is expected to be revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con.

According to Warner Bros Television & DC Entertainment, fans will get a first glimpse at the worlds of 'Arrow,' 'The Flash' and 'Gotham' along with a pilot screening for "Supergirl' and video presentations of "DC's Legends of Tomorrow' and "Vixen' at the said event.
