Marvel Cinematic Studio's "Doctor Strange" movie is shaping up pretty nicely, what with hot British actor and "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch set to portray the lead character Sorcerer Supreme.
He is backed up by an equally impressive supportive cast: Chiwetel Ejiofor ("12 Years A Slave") will play his nemesis Baron Mordo, Tilda Swinton ("Constantine") will portray Doctor Strange's mystic mentor called The Ancient One.
The female lead - most likely Doctor Strange's love interest is still up for grabs. However, Heroic Hollywood has reported that the role has already been offered to "Mean Girls" and "The Notebook" star Rachel McAdams.
McAdams has also worked on the "Sherlock" film together with Robert Downey Jr. as the title character and Jude Law as his sidekick Doctor Watson, so the famed British detective from 34 Baker Street is something in common she already has with Cumberbatch.
It is interesting to note that Doctor Strange has several love interests in the comic books, so it would be exciting to find out just who McAdams will portray, should she indeed take on the role. She could be the sorceress Clea, the niece of one of Doctor Strange's most notable foes, the demonic tyrant Dormammu.
Baron Mordo is already the villain for Doctor Strange's first standalone film, but including Clea would open up the possibility of more sequels and establish the importance of the next villain.
Then there is Morgana Blessing, a writer who has shifted from being Doctor Strange's friend to love interest. She also became the love interest of the title character's vampire brother Victor Strange, who also goes by the name Baron Blood, so their relationship status would definitely be rocky at best.
Clea is significantly more popular than Morgana Blessing, but the latter's story already has ties to the villain Baron Mordo, so there's a huge chance that she will be the character taken on by McAdams.
"Doctor Strange" will be the second installment in MCU's Phase Three of superhero flicks, which will start next summer with Chris Evans' standalone movie "Captain America: Civil War." That movie will also introduce Tom Holland as the newest Spider-Man and Chadwick Boseman as the Black Panther. Both characters will also be getting their standalone flicks in the following years, and their stories will further build up and establish the whole storyline MCU has been creating.
Cumberbatch and the rest of the "Doctor Strange" cast and crew will start filming in London this November, and the movie will be released on November 4, 2016.
