Asus ZenFone 2

The ZenFone 2 handset from Asus is expected to receive the latest version of the Android Lollipop soon.

The arrival of the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS for the smartphone was confirmed by a representative from the company, International Business Times reported.

According to an employee from the tech firm, the firmware update for the ZenFone 2 has already entered the company's final testing stages. This means that the company is getting ready to release the Android 5.1 Lollipop for the handset soon.

However, the Asus representative did not provide additional details as to exactly when users can expect to receive it. Also, it's worth mentioning that even after Asus releases the update, it will still have to go through another set of tests conducted by local network carriers before it is unveiled to the public.

This indicates that it might take a while before the ZenFone 2 gets updated to the Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The Asus ZenFone 2 officially debuted in selected Asian markets in March of this year. It comes with the stock Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and sports a 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels.

The 4GB RAM variant of the device is powered by the Intel Atom Z3580 while the 2GB model is equipped with the chip maker's Z3560 processor.

For its camera features, the handset houses a 13-megapixel rear shooter with autofocus and dual LED flash and a 5-megapixel front snapper.

Earlier this week, Asus launched another new smartphone named as the Pegasus 2 Plus. Like the ZenFone 2, the new handset with 5.5-inch display sports almost the same high-end specs, according to NDTV.

The main difference between the two is that the Pegasus 2 Plus is powered by a Snapdragon 615 chipset from Qualcomm, instead of an Intel processor. Also, Asus upgraded the device's front camera to an 8-megapixel snapper.
