Sony has finally unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming "Goosebumps' film and fans of the children's horror series have expressed their excitement over social media.
Drawn out from the famous R.L. Stine series of the same title, the trailer features Jack Black who takes on the fictional version of the 71-year-old author, who is described by his pretty niece Hannah (Odeya Rush) as someone who "doesn't really like anyone."
The clip draws attention to teen Zach Cooper, played by Dylan Minnette, who only just moved in to the house next to the famous author. While he ends up being friends with Stine's niece, their friendship takes an astonishing turn after Cooper unintentionally releases the author's fictional demons from his manuscripts into the real world.
With Stine being described as "a prisoner of his own imagination," the clip reveals that the author protects his readers by keeping his monsters locked up in the books.
"All the early monsters that are in the books [are in the film]," Stine said in an interview with ComingSoon.net last month. "They all come out, they're all there. The real evil one is Slappy the Dummy, he's there, the Abominable Snowman from Pasadena is there, and lawn gnomes, HUNDREDS of lawn gnomes. They're great, they're really good."
"You just released every monster I have ever dreamed," Black says in the clip as the Greendale town of Maryland tries to escape from a group of imaginary creatures.
The 45-year-old actor opened up about the "Goosebumps' trailer on Good Morning America, where he also expressed his excitement for the upcoming project.
"The movie turned out dynamite," he said. "I'm so excited because the books are really funny and scary and exciting and we just wanted the movie to be as awesome and cool as the book series was and I think we cracked the code."
"Goosebumps' has been aimed at younger viewers, although adults who were children in the '90s and who miss both the books and the TV series could be interested in the upcoming film as well.
"Goosebumps' also stars Halston Sage and Amy Ryan and is scheduled for an official premiere on Oct. 16, 2015. Its first trailer can be viewed below.
