After the announcement that helmers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be directing a spinoff film for Han Solo, news comes that the one and only Darth Vader will be making an appearance in the first solo "Star Wars' movie- "Star Wars: Rogue One.'
It has been revealed that Vader will not be the main villain of the film but will act "behind the scenes, pulling strings" and will appear onscreen through a viewscreen or a holo projection.
As the first installment in the "Star Wars' series of standalone films, "Rogue One' will shed light on the experiences of a rogue band of resistance fighters who have gotten together to take away the Death Star plans and bring new hope to the galaxy.
"It's the reality of war. Good guys are bad. Bad guys are good," director Gareth Edwards revealed at the Star Wars Celebration.
John Knoll, the Academy Award-winning visual effects supervisor who serves as chief creative officer at Industrial Light & Magic at present, will be the film's executive producers; he is set to work with Simon Emanuel ("The Dark Knight Rises,' "Fast & Furious 6') as well as Jason McGatlin ("Tintin,' "War of the Worlds').
Signing on as producers are Kathleen Kennedy and Tony To ("Band of Brothers', "The Pacific') as well as John Swartz, who has also worked with the upcoming installment, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens.'
Recently, it was also announced that Alexandre Desplat, the French film composer who worked on "The King's Speech' and "The Grand Budapest Hotel,' will be providing the soundtrack for the upcoming standalone film.
Cast members for "Star Wars: Rogue One' include Felicity Jones, who will take on the role of a rebel soldier. Riz Ahmed from "Nightcrawler,' Sam Claflin from "Snow White and the Huntsman' as well as Diego Luna and Ben Mendelsohn from "The Dark Knight Rises' have also joined the film.
"Star Wars: Rogue One' is set for an official premiere on Dec. 16, 2016.
Meanwhile, one of the more popular characters in the 'Star Wars' franchise is set to have his own film as Han Solo-centered spinoff movie is currently in the works at Disney.
As stated by a press release about the movie news, the script will shed light on the events that follow "how young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley."
Helmed by 'The LEGO Movie' directing duo Miller and Lord, the Han Solo spinoff film will be released in theaters on May 25, 2018.
