Everybody loves seeing power couple Kate Beckett and Richard Castle enjoy their marriage, but it looks like married bliss will soon be a thing for the past for them since season eight of "Castle" will be presenting this beloved couple with even more challenges.
Trouble will come in the form of a new character named Hayley, who will be played by "The Neighbors" star Toks Olagundoye. According to The Hollywood Reorter, Hayley is "a quick-witted, free-spirited former Scotland Yard police officer who works as a security specialist and isn't afraid to cross lines to get things done."
Sources have revealed that Hayley will be spending a lot of time with Castle, and this will surely put a dent to his and Beckett's blossoming relationship. She will be replacing Penny Johnson Jerald, who plays Captain Victoria Gates as a season regular.
Stana Katic, the actress who plays Beckett even teased fans that the next season of "Castle" will have them on the edge of their seats. Even though anything that might disrupt Beckett and Castle's happy union would be an unhappy development for fans, Katic believes that it will be one exciting romp.
She wrote on her Twitter account: "Had a great mtg w @AlexiHawley & @OldManWinter14 about S8! (Nail-biter) Love #Castle cast&crew. Looking forward to playing together again."
Should Beckett and Castle decide to split up though, this development will surely upset fans, who waited seven long seasons just to see their favorite couple tie the knot. They got married in an intimate ceremony in season seven episode six entitled "Time of Our Lives."
That moment was certainly a long time coming, especially since season six ended with the most suspenseful finale - on his way to their wedding ceremony in the Hamptons, Castle was chased down by mysterious perpetrators and his car crashes. A distraught Beckett, who was already wearing her wedding dress rushes to the scene, only to find that Castle has gone missing.
Season seven began with Beckett, Alexis, Martha, and the rest of the men and women in the precinct searching for Castle, and when they finally found him, he had lost his memory.
Production for "Castle" is undergoing a bit of a creative shake-up for its eighth season, with Alexi Hawley ('The Following') returning to serve as co-showrunner alongside veteran Terence Paul Winter. The duo took over the series from David Amann.
Moreover, it will be the first time "Castle" will plow through without series creator Andrew Marlowe and his writer slash producer wife Terri Miller.
