"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" has just cast another important character. Alison Sudol will make her feature film debut in the "Harry Potter" spin-off as Queenie, the younger sister of lead female character Tina (played by Katherin Waterston).
According to Variety, Tina runs into magical zoologist Newt Scamander (played by Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne) while he visits New York City and documents magical creatures for his book.
Sudol actually auditioned with Waterston and a group of girls to get a role in the film. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. has also met with "Frozen" star Josh Gad and John Krasinski for the role of Jacob, although the studio will not be making a decision on who will get the role until the next few days.
Sudol will play Queenie, the younger sister of Tina, who runs into Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) when he stops in New York City on his travels to find and document magical creatures.
Sudol was among a group of girls who recently tested for the part along with Katherine Waterston, who has been tapped for the role of Tina. The actress, who is repped by Don Buchwald & Associates and Atlas Artists is actually known for her musical career as the singer and songwriter for the band "A Fine Frenzy," who popularized the song "Almost Lover."
However, over the past few years, she has been busy building up her acting career, and has appeared in the USA drama series "Dig" and the Amazon show "Transparent."
To round up the cast of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," Warner Bros. has also met with Josh Gad and John Krasinski for the character of Jacob. The studio is expected to make a decision in the next few days on who between them has gotten the role.
David Yates is directing the film from a script by J.K. Rowling, who is making her screenwriting debut.
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is set in New York, and will take place at least seven decades even before Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger even sets foot on Hogwarts. It will follow the adventures of Scamander as he travels around the world in search of magical creatures, which he will write about in a textbook.
Rowling has even teased that the film will introduce an American version of Hogwarts, although the author has not yet revealed what the name of the school will be.
The film will be released on November 18, 2016.
