Apple has officially released the beta version of the iOS 9.
Although users are invited to download the latest mobile OS version to try it out, they should do so at their own risk as it might come with major bugs and glitches, Wired reported.
The iOS 9 beta has a size of 213MB and can be downloaded through Apple's beta program site. From there, users should login using their Apple ID and enroll their devices. Apple will then instruct them on how to install the beta version of the OS based on their iPhone or iPad models.
Various sources reported that the iOS 9 beta is designed to work with older handset models that came with the iOS 8, which includes the iPhone 4s.
However, before downloading and installing the firmware, users should keep in mind that this is only a beta version. Although Apple claims that it is stable, it is still most probably riddled with bugs that can end up bricking mobile devices.
As The Verge noted, some of these glitches could cause problems for the device's battery. So, for those who are still determined to test out the iOS 9 beta version, they should probably install it on a secondary iPhone or iPad.
Despite the risk of bricking devices, Apple released the test version of its latest mobile OS to gather feedback from users. Their comments, complaints and suggestions can help the Cupertino-based tech firm develop better updates for the final version of the iOS 9.
As to what users can expect to see in Apple's newest operating system, some of its major features include a more active virtual assistant. In the iOS 9, Siri can provide music playlists or add entries to the calendar based on the user's preferences.
Also, for iPad users, they'll be able to enjoy the new Split View mode which will let them run and use two apps at the same time.
