Xiaomi Libra with Snapdragon 808 Spotted in Benchmark

Details of a mysterious device from Xiaomi have been leaked online through a benchmark test site.

It is not yet clear if the handset is the successor of the company's Mi 4 or if it will be launched as a totally new device.

According to a post on the Geekbench site, the handset, codenamed as Xiaomi Libra, runs on the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS. Also, the device was powered by the 1.44GHz Snapdragon 808 processor from Qualcomm, the same chipset used by LG on its G4.

Various sources speculated that the mysterious handset might be the Mi 5, or the Mi 4's successor since a previous report claimed that the upcoming high-end device from Xiaomi was internally named as Libra.

However, as noted by NDTV, leaks regarding the details of the Mi 5 and its Plus variant strongly suggest that the Libra spotted on GeekBench is not the follow-up to the Mi 4.

According to the site, the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus are expected to be equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 and Snapdragon 820 processors respectively.

Given this piece of information, the Xiaomi Libra may not be marketed on the same level as the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus once it debuts. But, it still might be launched as a mid-range or high-end device since the Snapdragon 808 has become known as a key component of flagship devices such as the LG G4.

There are no details yet as to when the Libra handset will be introduced. Also, Xiaomi itself has not yet issued any announcements regarding its the specs or development.

As for the company's next flagship smartphone, rumors suggest that the Mi 5 will sport a 5.2-inch display while its Plus counterpart will feature a 5.7-inch screen. It is not yet clear when these two models will be officially released but the Mi 5 is expected to arrive in November of this year.
