Jeremy Lin is not harboring any bitter feelings towards the Los Angeles Lakers. The Taiwanese American NBA player took it to social media to explain why he left the Lakeshow for Buzz City. Lin, who places his faith in God as a Christian, shared that it was a prayerful decision.
Fans and experts saw it coming, and then it did. For months on end, the public speculated and debated about whether or not Lin would choose to stay with the Lakers for the next season. They just did not speculate that the 6'3" point guard would choose the Charlotte Hornets.
"I wanted to be on a team where I would be able to play freely and truly play the game I love with joy again. That has always been the most important thing to me," wrote Lin on his Facebook wall. "After a LOT of prayer and long discussions with family and friends, I wanted to personally let you guys know I'll be joining the Charlotte Hornets."
Rumors surfaced in early 2015, that Lin might be trading in his white, purple, and gold #17 jersey for another set of team colors. The rumors were on the dot, even regarding the stance that he would be a free agent. Lin, who averages at 11.2 points, 4.6 assists, and 2.6 rebounds, reportedly earned $15 million with the Lakers in 2014.
"My journey has never looked the way I (or anyone else) thought it would, but God has always worked things out for my good and I am confident that he will continue to do so," wrote 26-year-old Lin.
After donning multiple team colors, such as the Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, and Golden State Warriors, Lin trades it all in for a brand new Charlotte Hornets' purple and teal #7 uniform. He took it to Instagram on Wednesday night to post a photo of the team's logo and a photo of himself in his new uniform.
