The highly anticipated WWE Battleground 2015 promised a spectacular match between Brock Lesnar against the WWE Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Weeks prior to the fight, both parties have been featured to be gearing up in different ways for the much awaited face off - with Lesnar continuously intimidating "The Architect" and Rollins repeatedly taunting "The Beast." Apart from the widely popular match up, other main players also took center stage including Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, Kevin Owens and John Cena.
Spoiler alert! Results of the pay-per-view match, WWE Battleground 2015, will be discussed in this story.
The results are in and judging from the winners of the recently concluded event, the fans and followers of WWE definitely got their money's worth. WWE Battleground 2015 proved to be one action packed occasion - filled with surprises for all those watching live in the arena and those who tuned in at pay-per-view.
The kickoff match was that between the rapper/wrestler R-Truth and Bad News Barrett. While the funny man R-Truth undoubtedly gave "The King" a run for his money, it was Barrett who ultimately dominated and took home the "Rights to the Crown." Following the fight was the incredibly exciting match between "Mr Money in the Bank" Sheamus vs Randy Orton. Although the Celtic warrior put up quite a fight against his opponent, the "Viper" still emerged victorious. It should be exciting how the storyline between these two incredible wrestlers will pan out after WWE Battleground 2015.
Meanwhile, WWE Tag Team Championship was on the line when the titleholders, "The Primetime Players," composed of Titus O'Neil and Darren Young, faced off against "The New Day" members with Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and/or Big E. At the end of the match, "The Primetime Players" proved to be the rightful holders of the championship.
One of the highly anticipated matches for WWE Battleground 2015 is the one between Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt. For fans who have been eagerly anticipating this face off, it had been a predominant notion that the former member of "The Shield" would spare no expense at extracting retribution from the man who calls himself "The New Face of Fear." The feud between the two had been building up for weeks now - sometimes even involving "The Lunatic Fringe" Dean Ambrose - so WWE Battleground 2015 seemed to be the best avenue to finally settle the score. However, a surprise appearance by none other than Luke Harper tilted the match in Wyatt's favor, thereby sparking speculations on a possible "Wyatt Family" reunion.
Another highly anticipated match is that between WWE champ John Cena and NXT star Kevin Owens. To add excitement to the face off, the United States Championship belt was even placed on the line - a move the raised the stakes higher especially since Owens recently lost the NXT championship to Finn Balor. Despite the younger wrestler's ruthlessness, it appears that the experience and athleticism of Cena proved to be too much for the former NXT champ to overcome. In the end, the United States Championship remained in Cena's hands.
Finally, the main event involving Lesnar and Rollins came. As the night progressed, it became increasingly obvious that "The Beast Incarnate" will be regaining the WWE Heavyweight Championship. However, an unexpected guest arrived - one who ultimately cost Lesnar the highly awaited match.
Delivering one punishing move after another, Lesnar was more than guaranteed to dominate Rollins in WWE Battleground 2015 - that is, until the Undertaker emerged out of nowhere. Evoking shocked and possibly fear from the "The Beast Incarnate," the "Deadman" wasted no time in giving Lesnar his signature chokeslam - effectively disrupting the match and rendering Rollins, albeit via a "no contest" victory, the winner of WWE Battleground 2015.
