A lot of people may be voicing out their disapproval of Donald Trump but the children of the "The Apprentice" host remain solidly behind their father. From the time the real estate tycoon announced his intention to run for president of the United States in the 2016 election, he has been continuously hounded by negative publicity stemming from his controversial remarks on various sensitive issues in the community.
"Our father, Donald J. Trump is a true visionary and a great mentor," said Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric Trump in an official statement released to PEOPLE Magazine. The trio added, "He is a brilliant negotiator with a proven track record of getting things done." Trump's children further belied the claims that their father exhibited questionable behavior and traits averse to the ones necessarily observed from a presidential candidate. They further said, "Most importantly, he is an incredible dad and role model."
The three added, "He raised us to work hard and strive for excellence in all that we do." They then concluded their statement with an expression of their loyalty and devotion to their father. They wrote, "We love and respect him very much."
Prior to the release of this official statement, Donald Jr., Ivanka and Erika have all been active contributors to the campaigns of both Republican and Democratic parties, according to the PEOPLE Magazine report. In fact, the news outlet further stated that businessman and investor Jared Kushner, the husband of Ivanka, has been known to donate at least $100,000 to the campaign funds in the past years.
It could be recalled that Trump got into hot water through his own doing. The controversies began when the 2016 presidential hopeful targeted the Mexican immigrants who come to the United States, saying that they "rapists" who are "bringing drugs" and "bringing crime" to the country. These comments unsurprisingly did not bode well for the Mexican community and prompted Univision and NBC to withdraw from their business dealings with Trump - including the airing of the highly popular Miss USA.
Following the issue involving the Mexicans, Trump once again made headlines when he commented about John McCain's involvement as well as the latter's captivity during the Vietnam War. "He's a war hero because he was captured," Trump said in a speaking engagement in Iowa, according to E Online. He went on to say, "I like people who weren't captured."
Despite the controversies surrounding his campaign, ABC News reveals that Trump is actually leading the GOP primary field based on the Washington Post Poll. The business tycoon currently leads the Republican presidential list of 16, with 24 percent of the votes under his name. Scott Walker falls into second place with 13 percent while Jeb Bush snags the third spot with 12 percent.
