All people seem to want to talk about nowadays is Tom Cruise's latest movie "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation," but the hot action star is eager to talk about his other projects; in particular, Cruise is excited to talk about the sequel for his action thriller "Edge of Tomorrow."

"I pitched it to 'Rogue Nation' director and 'Edge of Tomorrow' screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie and 'Edge of Tomorrow' director Doug Liman. We were there one night and I was like, I've got an idea for it," he shared to MTV News.

"Edge of Tomorrow" is actually based on a manga entitled "All You Need is Kill" created by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, and even that too is getting a written sequel.

Cruise refused to divulge any spoilers for the movie, or what his ideas are about it, but one thing he is very sure of is that he wants to get British actress Emily Blunt back as his leading lady.

"It could be so much fun," he said. "Gotta get Emily. I was like Emily, please. She was like, 'give me another year, please.'"

"Edge of Tomorrow" is a 2014 that is set in the future, where Earth is invaded by an alien race. Major William Cage (played by Cruise) is a public relations officer who is inexperienced in combat. Despite this fact, he is forced by his superiors to join a landing operation against the aliens. He dies in combat but finds himself trapped in a time loop that sends him back to the day before the battle that kills him.

Determined to change his outcome, Cage seeks the assistance of Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (played by Blunt) to improve his fighting skills as he repeats the same day over and over again, and find a way to finally destroy the alien invaders once and for all.

"Edge of Tomorrow" managed to do well, raking in $369 million worldwide and receiving positive reviews from movie critics.

It is worth noting that "Edge of Tomorrow" is not the only one of Cruise's most recent movie projects that is getting a sequel. The 2012 thriller "Jack Reacher" is reportedly green lit for a sequel, and will follow Reacher as he tries to connect with a female military investigator, only to be stuck with a teenager who might or might not be his daughter. Because of the original director's other commitments, the sequel will be directed by Brett Rattner.
