If there is one thing fans need to know when "The Big Bang Theory" returns on the small screen this September, it's whether or not the relationship between Dr. Sheldon Cooper and his girlfriend Amy Farrah Fowler would survive even after their breakup.

However, even though "Shamy" would still talk to each other occasionally after their break up, there is no saying that they will get back together, or if Amy will not entertain other suitors. Should Amy start dating other guys, it would definitely upset Sheldon, who might or might not be contemplating thoughts of marriage with Amy.

The show's executive producer Steve Molaro said that he can't give fans hope about Sheldon and Amy's reunion just yet because Amy is "determined to stick to her guns" and resist Sheldon no matter how strong her feelings are for him.

"Right now, she really wants to take a step back and think about where she is, where they are and how she wants to move forward in her life," Molaro told Entertainment Weekly. "I don't think she's necessarily in a rush to find another man, but I don't think she's ruling it out either."

Moreover, Mayim Bialik, the actress who plays Amy told fans not to jump to conclusions that Sheldon is going to propose to Amy, right after he was seen contemplating with Gollum what to do with the ring he has in possession.

"We don't really know what the story is with that ring," Bialik said. "And I think that's something I had to remember as an actor. We don't know what he was planning to do with it. We don't know if it was something he got from his mother. We don't know what the process was by which he acquired that and what he would think to do with it."

"People want to jump to all sorts of conclusions, because it's super exciting to do so and they love these characters and they know them. But the neat thing about our show... and Jim and my character's relationship is that anything can happen. And I think the finale was proof of that," she added.

There were also others who got upset that Amy did not break up with Sheldon in person, and merely did it via Skype, but Bialik said that it's their comfort zone to talk through that platform so it is acceptable for them to use that means of communication to part ways as well.
