"Game of Thrones" star Natalie Dormer has joined the highly contested debate of sexism in Hollywood, saying that men actually suffer from objectification just as much as the women do.

Coming to the defense of the long-running HBO series, Dormer, who plays Margaery Tyrell told Radio Times magazine that the show does not indulge in gratuitous nudity, since it presents stark realities in a "real and dirty" way instead of making it look glamorous just like other television shows or films do.

Plus, there is no gender inequality in the show. Women in Hollywood might get judged and heavily scrutinized based on their looks, but she does not think that men are exempted from that scrutinity.

"My personal experience has been to work on phenomenal jobs in which the men are objectified as much as the women. Actors suffer from it, too. Wasn't there a thing about Aidan Turner in 'Poldark'? It's a visual medium, so to a certain extent you get judged on the way you look," she commented.

"We're not just talking about being slim here. We're talking about character actors with big eyes getting typecast in the 'friend' role. It's...about your physicality more generally," she added.

Dormer also noted that actors are often typecast due to their physicality, but casting decisions are not always made on whether they are seen as attractive or not.

Dormer debuted in "Game of Thrones" in the episode "What is Dead May Never Die" in the show's second season. She became a major character starting there and up to the sixth season. Margaery is the widow of King Renly Baratheon, and her father is Lord Mace Tyrell, the ruler of the Reach.

For a while, she was bethroted to King Joffrey Baratheon but shortly after their wedding, her new husband gets poisoned and succumbs to his death. She then became bethroted to Joffrey's younger brother Tommen, and they finally enjoy marriage in the fifth season.

Margaery is known for her beauty and political savvy. She is very ambitious but she has also displayed a caring and sensitive side. Cersei Lannister feels extremely threatened by her and this is why Tommen's mother concocted a plan to have her arrested by the Faith Militant for perjury, since Margaery defended her brother Loras' indiscretions. However, Cersei's plan backfires and she wounds up imprisoned herself and was made to confess and do the "Walk of Shame" for her sins.
