"DC's Legends of Tomorrow' executive producer Marc Guggenheim recently opened up about the upcoming superhero team-up show, referring to the new show as the "craziest' TV series he has ever worked on.
Sitting down with Comic Book Resources at the CW's summer party for the Television Critics Association this month, Guggenheim discussed the ways with which "Legends of Tomorrow' could just be the wildest DC Comics series he has been involved with.
"The show is nuts. It's got time travel and superheroes and super villains. It's a great deal of fun," he said.
The TV writer-producer's comments are in agreement with his fellow executive producer Andrew Kreisberg's sentiments during the series' San Diego Comic-Con panel last month.
As pointed out by Kreisberg, "DC's Legends of Tomorrow' is essentially a collection of "crazy ideas" that they have developed, which were too thrilling for either "Arrow' or "The Flash.'
"'Legends of Tomorrow,' all it is is the crazy ideas. It's bonkers," the producer told fans.
Although the series' high level of madness would undeniably attract certain audiences to watch the show, Guggenheim said that it has been difficult for their team to reach out to viewers who do not read the comics.
""¦ We know people who love the comics and who are going to want to see the show. No one's ever done a superhero team-up show on television before. So I figure they're okay," he explained. "[But] we also have to make sure that people -- what makes "Flash' and "Arrow' successful is because it appeals to people who don't just read the comics. And 'Legends' has to attract that same non-comic book fan audience."
Meanwhile, "Legends Of Tomorrow' showrunner Phil Klemmer previously opened up to Entertainment Weekly about what fans can expect when it comes to the time travel concept.
Similar to Guggenheim's statements, Klemmer assured fans that they can expect "total madness" with the upcoming DC Comics show.
"They're screwups. Instead of tiptoeing through history, they're plodding through it, leaving their footprints and fingerprints and constantly having to wonder whether they're going to screw the future up rather than fix it," Klemmer stated.
Favorite characters, such as Sara Lance aka White Canary (Caity Lotz), the Green Arrrow (Stephen Amell) and the Flash (Grant Gustin), are also expected to show up in the new series.
As confirmed by Gustin, his character will play a special role in the first few episodes of "Legends of Tomorrow.'
"I'm going to be a part of that right out of the gates as well," Gustin shared. "I get to be Flash on three TV shows ["Arrow,' "The Flash' and "Legends of Tomorrow']. I was unemployed a year and a half ago, so that's pretty cool."
'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' is set to premiere on The CW in January 2016.
