As fans look forward to the start of "Daredevil' season two, photos of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher have surfaced online, showing the former "The Walking Dead' star filming scenes for the upcoming season of the Netflix TV series.
In the latest images shared by Just Jared, the 38-year-old actor is sporting a black long-sleeved shirt coupled with a dark pair of pants as he filmed in New York.
Bernthal is also wearing a bullet-proof vest in one photo, hinting at a possible intense shooting scene in the second season.
The first set of photos unveiled more than a week ago shows Bernthal in a chokeholding position against one man as the actor had cuts and bruises on his face while wearing the same black attire.
Bernthal will take on the role of one of the most popular characters created by Marvel- the Punisher. Known as a vigilante who makes use of kidnapping, murder and threats of violence, Frank Castle is the antihero who wages a one-man war on all criminals, particularly after his wife and children were killed by the mob during a shootout in New York City.
Castle is also famous for being knowledgeable in martial arts and the use of a wide range of weapons.
"Punisher is one of my favorite characters. I've talked to Jeph Loeb [Daredevil executive producer]ever since I first met him back on Buffy about doing The Punisher," Steven DeKnight, one of the first season's directors, shared about Bernthal's character. "So it was a heartbreak to me to have to leave, but I knew it was in good hands and I loved everything we had started talking about Frank Castle being in that story."
"Marvel's Daredevil' is executive produced by Doug Petrie, who previously worked on hit TV shows "American Horror Story' and "Buffy The Vampire Slayer.'
He is joined by Marco Ramirez ("DaVinci's Demons'), Drew Goddard ("The Cabin in the Woods', "Lost') and Marvel's Head of Television Jeph Loeb ("Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.', "Marvel's Jessica Jones').
"Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences," Loeb stated. "Castle's appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same."
Meanwhile, "Daredevil' season one is now available for streaming on Netflix.
Going blind as a young boy but instilling extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) is known for battling injustice as a lawyer. By night, he becomes the superhero Daredevil in contemporary Hell's Kitchen in New York City.
Rosario Dawson has been confirmed to return for the second season to reprise her role as nurse Claire Temple.
"After working with Rosario in the first season, we knew instantly that we had to have her back for our second," Loeb said in June. "Claire Temple proved a fan favorite in season one, and we can't wait for fans to see all the plans we have for her next."
"Marvel's Daredevil' season two is set for release in 2016.
