After making her debut on 'Teen Wolf' as the Desert Wolf in the series' fifth season, Marisol Nichols recently opened up about taking on her first day as the mysterious character, which turned out to be an experience that she has not gone through before.

"It was very cool when I got on set," the 41-year-old actress said. "But the guy I was supposed to be shooting with [Seth Gilliam] wasn't there. Like, he just wasn't there."

She added, "They told me, 'Yeah, we've already filmed his part.' That's never happened in my 20 years of acting. They told me, 'Point the gun and pretend he's here,' but I didn't even know who 'he' was. All I knew was that I was there to kill my daughter, and that was awesome in the land of evil-ness."

In the eighth episode of 'Teen Wolf' season five, the Desert Wolf was introduced in an unexpected and startling way as Deaton (Gilliam) was about to go out of an old lair used by the Dread Doctors in the past. She held the veterinarian as hostage and interrogated him about any information on her daughter, Malia (Shelley Hennig), and whether she is still alive.

Deaton lied and insisted that he has no idea about what has happened to her daughter, as the Desert Wolf appeared to be intent on killing Malia.

"If she is still alive, I'm just going to have to kill her again," the Desert Wolf told Deaton.

When asked whether she knows more about her character, Nichols said she has no idea as to why the Desert Wolf would want to killed her own daughter.

"Nothing. Nothing. I didn't audition with the right sides, so I had no clue what I was doing. All of my audition lines were from someone named Kate [Jill Wagner]," Nichols said.

She added, "So I got the part and came to set for that first scene, and I was like, 'Who am I, exactly?' So they explained it all to me about a half-hour before we started shooting. They were like, 'You're the mother of Malia and you're half-coyote, half-werewolf.' (Like, OK, but what does that mean?) I probably watched about 10 episodes after that, just to know who everybody is."

For the new episodes of 'Teen Wolf' season five, Malia will have support from Theo (Cody Christian) and Bareden (Meagan Tandy) in confronting the Desert Wolf.

"[Theo has] offered help to [Malia] in dealing with the Desert Wolf, and she's going to find out that he has more of an advantage than he actually told her, so she's going to need him. So it's going to be some tense alliances," showrunner Jeff Davis said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Although MTV has not yet announced a premiere date for the second half of 'Teen Wolf' season five, it is speculated that the supernatural drama could return in January next year, similar to what was done in the past installments.
