"Harry Potter" alum Emma Watson is successfully juggling her thriving acting career and her role as United Nations (UN) ambassadress for gender equality, and this time, she has added something new into the mix.
Since she started promoting her new movie "Regression," which is directed by Alejandro Amenabar and stars her and Ethan Hawke, Watson has made it a point to appear in the red carpet wearing nothing but stylish clothes from designers who do not use fur or chemicals that could harm the environment.
According to Vanity Fair, Watson was deeply inspired by Andrew Morgan's recent documentary called "The True Cost," which shows the dark, often hidden side of "fast fashion."
For the sake of "fast fashion," many children are subjected to child labor while their parents and other adults are paid below minimum wage and work in an unhealthy surrounding. At the same time, clothing factories use harmful chemicals that can hurt the environment, so Watson decided not to be one of the consumers supporting this harmful business and industry.
On her Instagram account, Watson even actively shares photos of her nature-friendly fashion pieces. "Inspired to consider the whole process of creating a fashion look, we are thinking about all the people, pieces and moving parts! This rack includes designers that are considering local craft and production, artisan skills, the environment, sustainability and the longevity of fashion!" she wrote.
In another post, Watson looked absolutely gorgeous wearing a long, printed dress and she explained: "Kicked off with this @WesGordon dress! Love the print which was created in collaboration with London based artist and then produced in New York and Italy! @AlexanderWhite shoes are crafted by hand by artisans in Italy. Alex does not use fur and refuses to use chemical agents that could harm the environment! @Wwake jewelry uses recycled gold whenever possible, and our diamonds are either destruction-free antiques OR conflict-free stones and has developed an in-house studio practice with proper ventilation systems to protect employees health!"
Aside from "Regression," Watson will also be appearing as Belle in the Disney live action film "Beauty and the Beast." Her leading man will be "Downton Abbey" alum Dan Stevens while "The Hobbit" star Luke Evans will play the villain Gaston and "Frozen" voice actor Josh Gad will play his loyal sidekick LeFou.
Other stars in the film include Emma Thompson, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Stanley Tucci, and many others.
