Around a month before the official launch of "Star Wars Battlefront," developer EA Dice announced that it will conduct a beta test for the game.
The event will allow gamers to try out the upcoming shooter's 40-player multiplayer map as well as other game modes.
The multiplayer "Walker Assault" mode will take place in the Hoth map. In this mode, players will be able to choose to fight for the side of the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire. As part of the Rebel forces, gamers must ward off the advancing enemy troops that are reinforced by AT-AT Walkers. They will also be allowed to call on Y-Wing bombers by capturing the Uplinks.
By fighting for Darth Vader, on the other hand, they'll have access to the Empire's resources to defeat the Rebels.
The second mode, titled "Survival Mission," will let two gamers play as Rebel soldiers. Their main objective is to survive and defeat waves of A.I. Galactic Empire troops. But at the same time, they will also have to complete various side-missions.
The third and new mode is called "Drop Zone." EA DICE did not specify the details of this mode but Cinema Blend speculated that it might have something to do with working as a team to capture orbital pods dropped on certain points of the map. The site noted that it could be similar to the "Crash Site" mode of "Crysis 3."
Aside from the three game modes, the "Star Wars Battlefront" beta test will also give gamers access to its Companion feature.
"The 'Star Wars Battlefront' Companion experience features the strategic card game 'Base Command,' and lets you earn in-game Credits that unlock Star Cards, weapons and more in 'Star Wars Battlefront,'" EA Dice explained.
"In addition to the 'Base Command,' the Companion also lets Rebels and Imperials alike check game stats and progression, customize load-outs and appearance, connect with friends and get notified when they're playing 'Star Wars Battlefront,'" the studio added.
According to EA Dice, the beta test for the upcoming game will be held sometime in early October. The final version of "Star Wars Battlefront," on the other hand, will be released on November 17. It will be available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows platforms.
As for the game's future content updates, EA Dice said that it is working on releasing a DLC based on the film "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens," which is scheduled to premiere on December 18," IGN reported.
