A series of tweets revealed that a British woman, a mother of two children, has converted to Islam and has traveled to Syria to join and fight for the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The tweets that were posted by the British mother were threats directed towards Christians around the world and warned them of beheadings.
The woman who was responsible for posting these tweets is Sakinah Hussain who uses the pseudonym Umm Hussain al-Britani. She was believed to be from Kent in England and known as Sally Jones before her conversion to Islam. Even now around 500 English citizens are reported to be monitored by the British government for the possibility of traveling to the Middle East to join ISIS. Hundreds are believed to have already joined the militants and are active members.
The tweets that Hussain posted online were public after the beheadings of the two American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff. The posts stated threats to Christians around the world in light of the beheadings of the two reporters. One such post read, "You Christians all need beheading with a nice blunt knife and stuck on the railings at raqqa "¦ Come here I'll do it for you!"
Sally Jones' public Twitter account was deleted and later replaced with a private account. However, there were more tweets that were posted and stated praise for Osama bin-Laden the founder of the world's leading terrorist organization, al-Qaeda. One quoted the militant leader's words when al-Qaeda took responsibility for the 9/11 terrors in the United States: "If our messages could reach you by words, then they wouldn't have traveled by planes' Shaykh Usama Bin Ladin."
Sally Jones was a woman from Kent who lived as a single mother with her two children for many years. Many were astounded that a Caucasian woman would convert to Islam and even join the jihadists until Jones married 20-year-old hacker and jihad, Junaid Hussain who was imprisoned in 2012 for hacking into and posting personal information of former British Prime Minister Tony Blaire.
It is believed that while Hussain was out on bail, he fled the country and convinced Sally Jones to leave her children behind and join him in the Middle East.
Jones is one of hundreds of British citizens who are believed to have joined ISIS. Her husband Junaid Hussain and other British members of ISIS are likely candidates who may be responsible for the beheading of James Foley and Steven Sotloff, for the video revealed that the executioner had a British accent.
As of now, intelligence believes that ISIS has a million active members and are earning millions of dollars a day from selling oil, hostages and other resources.
