Everybody knows that "Game of Thrones" season 6 is filled with new and exciting characters that are guaranteed to shake up the death-riddled show.

One of the more exciting new players is none other than English actor Ian McShane, best known for his roles in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie franchise and the television series "Deadwood."

For a while, people assumed that he will be playing Samwell Tarly's mean father Lord Randyll Tarly, or he could be Theon Greyjoy's uncle Aeron, whom many believed was sexually molested by the pirate Euron - another new character in the season to be played by Danish actor Pilou Asbæk.

But now, Watchers On the Wall reports that McShane was spotted filming a scene with an outlaw band that was mentioned in the second casting call. This mean that McShane's role is minimal, although regarded with "key importance."

In the comments section, die-hard "Game of Thrones" fans kept insisting that McShane will be playing Septon Meribald, based on the clues that have already been provided.

Septon Meribald is a wandering septon of the riverlands. Physically, he is described as six feet tall and walks with a slight hunch. He has large hands and feet, and his face is lined with thick grey hair. Even though he cannot read and write, Septon Meribald knows the Seven-Pointed Star by heart and can minister the Faith of the Seven to the small folks of the riverlands. His only real companion is a dog, whom he has named Dog.

The character might have been traumatized after joining the War of the Ninepenny Kings with his brothers during his youth. His older brother William and another brother Robin died of a fever because of the war. His remaining brother Owen was killed in battle and his friend Jon Pox was hanged because of rape.

Because of everything that has happened to him, Septon Meribald has decided to walk barefoot for the rest of his life as penance for his sins. However, he sometimes uses his position as a religious leader to convince young women to have sex with him.

In the books, the septon encounters Brienne of Tarth and Podrick Payne in their journey, and he shares his story with them. They split up after Brienne battles with Biter at the inn of the crossroads, and he was allowed by the brotherhood without banners to continue his way unharmed.
