"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" director Zack Snyder is unfazed by all of the rumors and spoilers circulating about the upcoming DC superhero film. While there are times when fans are able to guess right, Snyder is confident that what they have in store will ultimately blow people away.
"There are so many, it's insanity," he told Yahoo! Movies about fans' theories. ""It's funny because every now and then someone will touch on something that's kind of true, but the next thing they say makes me realize that they took a wild guess. They'll say something and I'll say 'Oh snap, they must have seen the script.' And then they'll say, 'And this happens!' And then I'll go, 'They have no idea what they're talking about.'"
Other directors might not like it when fans pre-empt their works, but Snyder does not seem to mind. He actually appreciates all the hype people are building for the movie. "It's fun for everyone to speculate and take shots and think of things and try to sell it," he said.
But there is one fun rumor that has been going around that Snyder dismissed. That rumor is that his son Eli will be playing the fallen superhero Robin, who might or might not have been been killed by the Joker.
"There's a rumor that my son is playing Robin. It's not true. Now there are all these images of him that people have made where he's dressed like Robin. It's fun to hear and see them," he said.
There are so many superheroes in the DC universe that are trying to get their time in the spotlight, and even though "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will focus primarily on Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill), they will also be introducing new characters from the Justice League such as Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa). The two will be getting their standalone films in the following years as well.
It's a tricky thing to share the spotlight, says Snyder, but he tries to be fair about it. "I try and stay central. There's something really fun about bringing the other characters in, but it's really about staying central to the real core mythology is what I think the audience enjoys most," he said.
The director cannot deny that there are so many superhero films being produced nowadays, but he believes that DC has something different to offer rather than just the regular battle between good and evil.
"To me it's about the drama, the humanity of it. Those are like Shakespearean characters, Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent, they have inherent drama built into their makeup," he explained.
