Angelina Jolie Interviews: Actress Addresses Sony Leaks, Sexism in Hollywood

Hollywood A-list star and director Angelina Jolie Pitt is one tough cookie, although there is no denying that she has a heart of gold as well.

When the Sony leaks came out and business exec and film producer Amy Pascal labelled Jolie Pitt as a "spoiled brat" without any real talent, the actress picked up the phone and immediately called Pascal - not to fight with her, but ask her how she was.

"Someone told me (about the leak)," Jolie Pitt told The New York Times. "There are certain things that bother me and certain things that don't. Personal attacks on me? I think I'm just so used to it. Honestly, my first instinct was that I was worried about Amy. I had someone call her and ask if she was okay. Not because I'm a saint, but because I think we have to look at the bigger picture. She's got kids. I knew it was going to unravel for her."

Unravel it did for Pascal, who also exposed in the leak that Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams received much less than their male co-stars in "American Hustle."

The issue of sexism in Hollywood, and in other industries as well is something that really concerns Jolie Pitt.

"Sexism is part of every industry and must be addressed," she said. "But I try not to focus on the negative but the positive side of what we can bring. I want to support other women because of the opportunities I've had - and I've had a lot of opportunities. What I try as a female director is to do the best job I can and in the meantime bring attention to as many other female directors and writers as I can."

As far as directors are concerned, Jolie Pitt said that it is still a male-dominated profession.

"I just think that sometimes people in the business focus on the fact that you're a minority. I don't want people saying, 'Should we get a female director?' I want to hear, 'Should we get a great director for this movie?' But I'm the first female director that Brad's ever worked with. That doesn't seem right when you think about it," she said.

The happily married couple worked together on the film "By the Sea," which was not only directed by Jolie Pitt, but written and produced as well.

Pitt has raved his wife's work in the movie, and he has no problem at all being directed by a woman.
