Major game developer Blizzard is looking to hire a senior software engineer to restore some of the studio's classic video game franchises.
According to the company, the main objective of the job is to make these games playable on new generation technology.
As stated in the company's website, the successful applicant will be asked to work on iconic Blizzard games including "StarCraft," "Diablo II" and "Warcraft III." Blizzard noted that during their time, these games dominated the gaming industry.
However, as new technological trends in gaming emerge, these games got left out. But, with the help of a new senior software engineer, Blizzard is hoping to bring back these games for modern gaming systems.
"Evolving operating systems, hardware and online services have made [these games] more difficult to be experienced by their followers or reaching a new generation," the company wrote in its website.
"We're restoring them to glory, and we need your engineering talents, your passion, and your ability to get tough jobs done," Blizzard continued. "So, if you like wearing many hats, know small teams are the most effective, and look forward to challenges that will create millions of new adventures for our players, we would love to hear from you."
According to the studio, those looking to apply for the position must have at least five years of experience in games development. They must also be passionate about video games and have a deep knowledge of C/ C++. They must also be able to debug unfamiliar codes and can generate creative ideas that can excite Blizzard.
In addition, experiencing debugging various codes and game software is also preferred by the company.
As for the job position's responsibilities, the successful applicant will be tasked with updating the games' gameplay features for new operating systems. The senior software engineer must also be able to improve the multiplayer experience and handle various issues that can affect the games.
Those interested applying for the job may do so online through the company's website.
As Polygon noted, Blizzard did not mention if the senior software engineer will also work on restoring older games such as "Warcraft: Orcs & Humans. This is the first title from the franchise and was launched in 1994 for the MS-DOS and Macintosh platforms.
Earlier in 2013, Blizzard revealed that it is planning on reviving this game for modern PC systems. However, the company has not yet offered an update regarding this project.
