Development studio Blizzard has confirmed that the upcoming expansion for its "World of Warcraft" game, titled "Legion," will arrive next year.
The studio accompanied the announcement with a cinematic trailer for the game during the recent BlizzCon event.
According to an update on the studio's Battle.net website, fans of the MMORPG series can expect to receive the expansion pack on or before September 21, 2016. The standard edition of "Legion" will be priced at $49.99 while the game's deluxe version can be purchased for $69.99.
As noted by gaming news site Gamespot, those who will pre-order the game will receive tons of game-related bonuses and content. These include a level 100 upgrade for their characters as well as an early access to Demon Hunter, the new hero class that will be introduced in the upcoming expansion pack.
In addition, those who will purchase the deluxe edition will also receive special content for Blizzard's other major games, "Diablo 3" and "StarCraft 2."
As to what gamers can expect in the upcoming update, "Legion" will feature a raised level cap of 110. In addition, it will be set in a new map dubbed as Broken Isles. The expansion pack will also feature new weapons and items that can be customized as well as additional raids.
According to Blizzard, the different character classes in "Legion" will also come with new sets of abilities.
"Going into 'Legion,' our guiding purpose is to strengthen the distinctive identity of each of our 12 classes and their specializations," Blizzard wrote.
"The scope of these efforts includes making cosmetic improvements, enhancing existing abilities, adding new abilities, replacing too-generic abilities with more iconic ones, adjusting rotations to better reflect spec identity, and even completely redesigning some specs to carve out a strong identity where previously there was none," the studio added.
Aside from the details of the game, Blizzard also released a four-minute cinematic clip for "Legion." On the video, King Varian Wrynn leads a massive raid on the Broken Isles to take on the Legion with the help of Lady Sylvanas Windrunner, according to PC Mag.
"World of Warcraft: Legion" is set to come out during the second or third quarter of next year. But, before this year ends, Blizzard will hold a beta event for the game. Details about the event are still unclear but gamers who are interested in testing out the upcoming expansion pack may sign up through Battle.net.
