"Thor" star Chris Hemsworth has worked with new Spider-Man star Tom Holland in Ron Howard's film "In the Heart of the Sea" even before the latter nabbed the role of the web-slinging superhero, and it's safe to say that Hemsworth is pretty pleased with the work standards and ethics shown by the up and coming star.
Hemsworth was so impressed by Holland's acting chops, as well as his comic book knowledge that Hemsworth knew Marvel made the right choice in him.
"I ran into the guys when he was auditioning for Spider-Man, I ran into the guys at Marvel and said, 'Look, you're not going to meet a more appreciative and hard-working, talented actor, and especially, for his age," he told Cinema Blend. "I was sort of blown away by that, and the amount of integrity and precision he has with his acting. But, he is a true fan of it. We were talking about comic books at length when we were doing ('In the Heart of the Sea'), and he would express how he grew up on Spider-Man and loved it and so on."
As Spider-Man, Holland would also have to be very flexible and be physically fit in order to battle villains, but Hemsworth assured everyone that Holland would be up to the task.
"He's also an athlete. He's a gymnast, and you've probably seen some of the (clips)," he said. "So, it's nice, I reckon, when you know, you're not having a stunt guy having to step in and do it. You're going to have him doing it, and I think it's going to be all the more authentic and impressive."
It felt refreshing to be on the set with Holland, according to Hemsworth, because he is so eager to learn and embrace new techniques. Hemsworth added that Holland actually has a lot in common with his character Peter Parker and this is why it would translate magically on the screen.
"He has a whole lot of sense of fun and sort of, wide-eyed fascination with it, which I think is integral to the character, and to that world. I think that superhero films that I love, when there is, you see the people on screen having fun too," he said.
Holland would first appear as the web-slinger in the upcoming Marvel movie "Captain America: Civil War," which will be shown on May 6, 2016.
