Development company Naughty Dog has recently unveiled a few important details regarding the upcoming multiplayer beta event for "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End."
These include the size of the beta test and other gameplay details that participants can expect.
Naughty Dog made the revelation during its recent livestream event. Although the stream is already over, gamers can still check out the video over at Twitch.
According to the studio, the multiplayer beta will take up quite a bit of space since it has a file size of about 7GB. Games Radar reported that it will focus on only the game's multiplayer team deathmatch mode.
During the beta test, participants will be able to access two different maps for the matches. But, once the final version of the game officially launches, gamers will be treated to eight new maps. More locations might be added to the game eventually through future DLC releases.
As noted by the studio, gamers will also be able to customize their characters' loadouts and gear during the multiplayer beta. Games Radar noted that the mechanics of loadout customizations, which involve allocating certain points to items, is a bit similar to the multiplayer mode of "The Last of Us," which was also developed by Naught Dog.
Another major feature that gamers can expect to see in the beta event is the addition of sidekicks and mysticals. As explained by Gamespot, the latter refers to power-ups that players can use to boost their abilities. These are based on the relics featured on previous "Uncharted" games.
Sidekicks, on the other hand, are non-playable characters (NPCs) that gamers can call on. Once summoned, these sidekick NPCs will aid the player in taking down the enemies. One of the sidekicks revealed by Naught Dog is a goon-looking character wielding a minigun.
The "Uncharted 4" multiplayer beta event will kick off on December 4 and will be available until December 13. However, only those who purchased "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection," will be able to gain early access to the beta event.
Also, Naughty Dog mentioned that the exact time when the beta will begin will vary depending on the players' locations. This factor can also affect the overall size of the game.
As for the main game itself, "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" is all set to debut on March 18, 2016. It will be exclusively available for Sony's PlayStation 4 console.
