Marvel's Kevin Feige is finally talking about the third "Thor" film already entitled "Thor: Ragnarok," which would star Chris Hemsworth as the title character and include his fellow Avenger Hulk, played by Mark Ruffalo.
Feige teased that the third installment will be even bigger and better than the first two "Thor" films.
"I don't think people will read into that title alone (regarding) what the movie's going to be. It's going to be, perhaps, as totally different from the two prior Thor movies as Winter Soldier was from the first Captain America. We want to take it to new places, we've got new characters that will show how big we're swinging on this. And we have a Hulk," he shared, according to Screen Rant.
As for the setting, the possibilities are endless because Feige said that the moviegoers will find the characters taking their battles someplace else.
"The film takes place within the cosmos primarily which is to say, frankly, very little Earth," he said.
The third Thor film will be directed by Taika Waititi, who co-wrote and co-directed the vampire spoof "What We Do in the Shadows."
Earlier, Hemsworth expressed his desire to deliver a more humorous tone to the "Thor" franchise.
"I think 'Thor 3' needs to be injected with that sort of smart wit and unexpected kind of humor, kind of what James Gunn came in and did with 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' It was like off center and unpredictable, and I think we can definitely use a dose of that, you know?" he said.
The "Thor" star has high hopes that Waititi would be able to achieve just that. "We've done regal. We've done Shakespeare, and we've shown that. I think now it's time to go, 'Okay, cool. Let's try something different,' and Taika just had such a brilliant sort of take and funny kind of ideas about where we could (go), how we could do that," said Hemsworth.
As for the cast, aside from Hemsworth and Ruffalo, reports have it that Marvel has just cast Cate Blanchett for a role as the first female lead villain in the franchise. They might also introduce another hero called Valkyrie, and bring back Thor's friends the Warriors Three and Lady Sif (played by Jaimie Alexander). It is unclear whether or not Natalie Portman's Jane will be back in the third film.
"Thor: Ragnarok" has been scheduled for release on November 3, 2017.
