Without making any major announcements, Apple suddenly rolled out the beta version of the iOS 9.3 operating system update to its developers and testers.
And, unlike previous versions of the OS, the company launched a page dedicated to explaining its various features.
As noted by The Verge, one of the main features of iOS 9.3 is the Night Shift, which automatically adjusts the brightness or color temperature of an iPad or iPhone's display depending on location and time. Specifically, Night Shift reduces the amount of blue light emitted through the screen and adds more yellow tones. According to the site, this feature was added based on findings by researchers on how the blue light from device can disrupt a person's sleeping patterns at night.
Another major addition in iOS 9.3 is Education. As its name suggests, this feature was mainly designed for students and for schools that use iPad as part of their teaching methods.
Since equipping every student with an Apple tablet can be quite expensive, the Cupertino-based tech giant has developed a way to enable classmates to share iPads with one another. Through the Education feature, students will be able to create their own roaming amounts which they can access using a unique password.
This way, they'll be able to access their accounts, which could contain files for their homework or other school projects, on any iPad device.
Aside from this, Education also has an app that can help teachers monitor the academic progress of their students.
Apple also included a new security feature for the existing Notes app. Since the company that many users turn to this app to store vital information such as medical details and financial accounts, Apple included a new security feature in iOS 9.3. Through the latest update, users will have the option to set a security feature for notes by requiring a password or fingerprint through Touch ID.
With this, they'll be able to ensure that their stored details in Notes are always protected.
Other new features unveiled in iOS 9.3 include CarPlay, which lets users locate nearby establishments using the Maps app. The OS also delivers more specific news articles through the Apple News feature, Mac Rumors reported.
In addition, through the new Apple Watch supports, users who are running their iPhones or iPads on iOS 9.3 will be able to pair more than one smartwatch with their devices.
