Following the considerable success of "Big Hero 6", Disney Animation Studios has made an official announcement regarding the release dates of two new animated movies- "Zootopia" and "Moana."
Putting forward the story of a fast-talking fox named Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) and taking friendship into a whole new level, "Zootopia" will hit cinemas on March 4, 2016 in 3D. Its script will be penned by Jared Bush and directorial duties will be taken on by Byron Howard, who also worked on "Tangled."
Meanwhile, "Moana" is centered on a teenager's adventure to sail towards the Pacific Ocean and carry out her "ancestor's journey" as she travels across South Pacific islands about 2,000 years ago.
In her quest, the 14-year-old Moana will meet the demi-god Maui who will aid her in passing through the ocean filled with spectacular underworlds and giant sea creatures.
The animated film will be released on Nov. 23, 2016 in 3D. Ron Clements and John Musker, who also worked on "The Little Mermaid" and "Aladdin" will be directing the movie.
"Zootopia" and "Moana" will be the 55th and 56th animated feature films of Disney Animation Studios, respectively.
Meanwhile, "Big Hero 6" has already soared to the top spot of the weekend box office, overtaking the sci-fi film "Interstellar" with an overall haul of $56 million. Drawing out inspiration from Marvel Comics, the superhero-comedy animated film follows the story of teenage robot expert who comes up with a superhero team to defeat the story's main villain.
"Big Hero 6" reportedly raked in mostly positive reviews for its action-packed storyline, impressive graphics and attempts to take animated superhero stories onto a new level.
