British boy band One Direction split into two different ways for their 2015 World Tour as member Zayn Malik took a plane ride back to Britain. The band is on schedule to perform around the world in their On the Road Again Tour minus one member. Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan are the four members who remain on tour.
Zayn Malik, 22-year old singer of British boy group One Direction quit the 2015 World Tour due to high stress levels. One Direction publicist Simon Jones released a statement on behalf of the band on Thursday through Twitter.
"Zayn has been signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate. The band wish him well and will continue with their performances in Manila and Jakarta," Jones said. The tweet has received 4,532 retweets and 2,954 favorites on the social media platform.
Zayn tweeted an emotional message on Wednesday, saying that he loves Perrie Edwards, his girlfriend. Perrie is a member of the girl group Little Mix. The other band mates have not yet commented on Zayn's absence.
The 2015 tour began on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 and is scheduled to end on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015. Zayn toured with the band for almost two months before deciding to leave.
Harry, Liam, Louis and Niall are currently in the Philippines and will continue touring across Africa, America, Asia and Europe. Most of the tour tickets at the band's website are sold out. Zayn has not yet revealed to the public whether or not he will rejoin the band. Fans at the concerts will have to cope with seeing the band perform without Zayn for the time being.
The band, also known by fans as 1D, was signed by Simon Cowell of the X Factor reality television show in 2010. Since then, 1D released a total of four music albums with Syco Records. Up All Night, Take Me Home, Midnight Memories and Four are the titles of their hit albums.
All five members originally auditioned as solo candidates for the X Factor but were combined into one boy band during the competition. Harry came up with the name of the band.
