Andrew Garfield may have already left the Spider-Man franchise but, as an avid fan, the actor is greatly thrilled about watching the web-slinging superhero join the Marvel Cinematic Universe - an experience that he was supposedly rooting for when he was playing the role.
The former "Amazing Spider-Man' star shared about the first few plans for a third installment in the superhero series before Sony made the decision to come up with another remake and have a fresh start with Marvel.
"I was actually starting to workshop ideas with Alex Kurtzman, who was going to be writing it ["The Amazing Spider-Man 3']," Garfield shared. "We thought to kind of start from the base level, the foundational level of where have we left Peter and where do we want to see him go and what's logical. And how do we build upon where we left off with this deep, desperate moment with Gwen?
He also added that he was excited to dig deeper into the story when the initial plans were made.
"We got to some pretty heavy places and I was really excited to kind of explore it and be involved on the ground level like that," the actor further said.
Garfield, who was replaced with a much younger Peter Parker - Tom Holland who is set to make his first appearance as Spidey in "Captain America: Civil War' - did not go into detail as to what had actually been discussed between him and the studio for the upcoming flick.
In an interview with Uproxx, he shared about how much he is looking forward to Marvel's take on Spider-Man.
"To be honest, all the ins and outs of what happened is a more tender conversation that maybe I don't want to talk about in public in a press situation," Garfield said. "But all I can say is that I'm stoked to go and watch a Marvel film of Spider-Man."
He further stated, "I'm really, really grateful for the whole ride of it. And I'm really excited for the next one. I've been petitioning to hook up with Marvel since the beginning, so I'm really glad they're finally doing it."
Last month, Garfield also opened up about his feelings of leaving the franchise.
"It's a mixed bag and it's a blessing," the actor told E! News. "I got to do it twice. I got to meet incredible artists. I got to have a wild experience and now I get to let it go, which is actually a really lovely thing."
Garfield made his debut as the friendly hero in 'The Amazing Spider-Man' in 2012 and, later on, came back for the role in the 2014 sequel.
"I'm very kind of at peace with it," he said. "It ran its course. I remember seeing you just before it all kind of began in Hawaii."
The 31-year-old actor also opened up about his excitement in seeing Holland take on the role in the highly-anticipated "Spider-Man' reboot.
"He's just a brilliant actor," Garfield said, while adding, "I can't wait to watch. I just can't wait to be a fan again and just watch and enjoy myself watching."
