After months of dropping teasers, a full trailer has been unveiled online for the new companion series "Fear the Walking Dead.' The show has been set to premiere on AMC on Aug. 23, Sunday, with a special 90-minute episode.
"We join "Fear' before the rise of the zombie apocalypse with an interesting family dynamic as its entry point. After years of planning, that we are now only six weeks from sharing "Fear' with the world is truly exciting," AMC and SundanceTV president Charlie Collier said.
The first official "Fear the Walking Dead' trailer has been released weeks after a number of teasers were unveiled, such as that of Kim Dickens' character Madison who has not yet come to believe of the dead coming back to life as well as of Frank Dillane's character Nick who is seen running away from an unknown force.
"Anticipation around the world for "Fear the Walking Dead' is reaching a crescendo and we are ecstatic about delivering the series to worldwide fans at the exact same time as the U.S.," AMC and Sundance Channel Global President Bruce Tuchman shared. "Whether you're in Hong Kong, Madrid or São Paulo, AMC viewers will be able to join the journey and experience the start of the zombie apocalypse together."
Deemed as a parallel story to AMC's hit series "The Walking Dead,' the upcoming program will focus on the zombie apocalypse as it takes place. Its storyline will be separated from that of the original program, which drew attention to the environment in which Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) woke up after a long coma.
Executive producer Robert Kirkman, who is working on both of the network's zombie apocalypse shows, previously announced that the new series will possibly give details of the events that took place on the missing days of "The Walking Dead.'
"Everything that happens in "Fear The Walking Dead' is in the same universe as 'The Walking Dead,'" Kirkman explained. "So any rule that we find out and anything they see in the early days is definitely something that was happening in the past of the other show.'
The comics and TV series creator stated that details from "Fear the Walking Dead' can be applied to the mythology of "The Walking Dead' and vice versa; the only thing that separates the characters from the two shows is the distance between them.
"These two shows are very intertwined in the same world, even if their characters aren't necessarily going to interact because of geographical distances," Kirkman further stated.
With the series set in Los Angeles, cast members who have been confirmed for the upcoming program include Frank Dillane ("Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'); Kim Dickens ("Sons of Anarchy', "Gone Girl'); Cliff Cutis ("Missing'); Alycia Debnam-Carey ("Into the Storm'); Mercedes Mason ("Quarantine 2: Terminal') and Elizabeth Rodriguez ("Orange is the New Black").
