American Idol contestants who made it through Hollywood Week are not off the hook just yet as their talents and skills will once again be tested on the dreaded group round. Teams were formed, and the performances were rehearsed all night long to ensure that nothing will stand in their way to success, as reported in Cartermatt.com.
One of the groups was called Double Stuff, and it included J. None, Clark Beckham, David Willis, and Jesse Cline. Although their rendition of the widely popular song "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" was commended by Idol Judge Jennifer Lopez as a harmonious piece, the other judges appeared to disagree.
Keith Urban admired the performance, but pointed out that it had notable inconsistencies. Meanwhile, Harry Connick, Jr. simply commented that the group's presentation set a good tone for the rest of the day. Cline was voted as the performer who stood out the least in the group.
Another group, named Sheba Squared, was composed of Andrew Bloom, Big Ron Wilson, Adam Ezegelian, and Shi Scott. They performed the hit song "P.Y.T." The powerhouse performances of both Wilson and Ezegelian appeared to have completely drowned out Bloom's vocals, as aptly noted by the Idol judges. Unsurprisingly, it was Bloom who was booted out of the competition.
The next group was called Dream Team. Tyanna Jones, Maddy Hudson, Reno Anoa'i, and Steffi Ledbetter made up the team, and attempted to wow the judges with their own version of "I Just Want One More Chance."
In what was perhaps an effort to deliver a high-powered performance, American Idol Judge Harry pointed out that the singers looked as if they were trying to merely outperform one another. Keith commended the song choice as it was suitable to showcase Jones' vocal, but remarked that it came out as a disadvantage for Ledbetter, who was then eliminated.
Jaq Mackenzie, Nick Fradiani, Michael Simeon, and Hunter Larsen performed the song "Rude" under the group name Team Dimples. This presentation impressed the judges as Harry even drew attention to the fact that the entire team worked together to deliver a well-balanced performance.
Meanwhile, Lopez shared how much she enjoyed the presentation. As testament to the judges' appreciation of the team's performance, no one was eliminated from Team Dimples.
The final team, called Sal's Gals, featured Jackie "Jax" Cole, Sal Valentinni, Alexis Grendel, and Kelley Kime. However, a break was immediately called following the panic attack of Grendel, thereby leaving the viewers with an exciting cliffhanger.
